The Southwest Opioid Response District (SWORD) has launched its second grant cycle to support projects addressing opioid use and co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders in Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan counties.
These grants are funded through Colorado’s opioid settlement funds.
Priority will be given to projects that serve multiple counties and focus on building recovery capital. The SWORD Council is especially interested in proposals related to secure transportation, a region-wide youth-focused prevention campaign and structured community engagement.
Eligible applicants include nonprofits, public health agencies, first responders and other organizations serving individuals impacted by opioid use disorder.
Projects must comply with Exhibit E of the Colorado memorandum of understanding governing allowable opioid settlement fund uses (nationalopioidsettlement.com/uses-core-strategy).
The grant application deadline is Aug. 15, with funds anticipated to disburse near the beginning of December.
