Support local nonprofits through Southwest Colorado Gives Day starting Nov. 1

Southwest Colorado Colorado Gives Day, the state’s largest online fundraiser, returns on Dec. 9, but donors don’t have to wait to make an impact.

Early Giving begins Nov. 1, and every donation made through swcogives.org between Nov. 1 and Dec. 9 counts toward local nonprofits’ fundraising goals and qualifies for the Colorado Gives Foundation’s monthly matching funds.

This year, the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado and its partners have set an ambitious goal: raise $1 million for local nonprofits across Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan counties.

With more than 150 organizations participating, Southwest Colorado Gives offers residents an easy and secure way to give back to the causes that make the region thrive.

“This is an incredible time for locals to show up for the organizations that support our well being on so many levels,” said Briggen Wrinkle, executive director of the Community Foundation. “Every year more people get involved in this movement, most of them giving between $20 and $100, showing that you don’t have to give a large amount to make a big impact on the causes you care about.”

Through swcogives.org, donors can explore nonprofits by cause or county and give safely online. Last year, Southwest Colorado raised $894,000 on Colorado Gives Day, with the state overall raising $54.8 million.

The funds supported vital programs in areas such as human services, education, the arts, animal welfare, youth programs and environmental initiatives.

The Southwest Colorado Gives campaign helps keep philanthropy local and builds stronger, more resilient communities throughout the region.
