September sales tax revenue up slightly from 2023

September sales tax collections increased by 0.78 percent compared to last year’s figures, according to reports released Nov. 7 by Archuleta County Finance Director Chad Eaton.

Eaton notes that the Town of Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County received a total of $1,649,275.21 from September tax revenues, with $829,033.36 going to the town and $820,241.85 going to the county.

The slight increase from last year accounts for an additional $12,807.54, according to the report.

The report highlights the categories that are up in comparison to September 2023, including:

• Construction at 26.69 percent, or $10,988.86.

• Manufacturing at 24.92 percent, or $16,912.78.

• Information at 6.85 percent, or $1,788.01.

• Finance and insurance at 4.83 percent, or $87.11.

• Professional, scientific and technical services at 1.66 percent, or $216.64.

• Other services (except public administration) at 45.86 percent, or $11,696.08.

• Miscellaneous at 2.54 percent, or $5,271.05.

According to the report, categories that were down in comparison to September 2023 include:

• Retail trade at 1.97 percent, or $17,501.85.

• Real estate and rental and leasing at 18.48 percent, or $6,947.29.

• Accommodation and food services at 2.97 percent, or $9,713.85.
