Special to The PREVIEW

The Archuleta County Senior Center Book Club will meet this Friday, Dec. 11, at 10:30 a.m. for their annual club holiday book discussion and luncheon at a member’s home.

This month’s book is “A Quilt for Christmas” by Sandra Dallas. The book is about a Union soldier who leaves his wife and two children in charge of their home and farm. She becomes involved in a quilting group, making a quilt for her husband, taking in another woman and child into her home and helping hide an escaped slave. With rich historical detail and vibrant characters, “A Quilt for Christmas” is the perfect novel about the bonds of family and the true meaning of sacrifice.
