The San Juan Outdoor Club member meeting will be this Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association Clubhouse.
This month’s speaker will be Chama, N.M., resident Jonathan Thomas, otherwise known by his thru-hiker name “Janis Joplin” (we may find out how he got that moniker).
Thomas will talk about the general psychology of being a thru-hiker on long distance trails such as the Appalachian Trail, Continental Divide Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, etc.
Also, Thomas will speak about adventures he has had and perhaps a particular life endangering experience.
Social hour begins at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:45 p.m.
