Salvation Army of Archuleta County launches annual fundraising campaign

Posted

The Salvation Army of Archuleta County will launch its annual fundraising campaign on Saturday, Nov. 22.

This year, various individuals, organizations, churches, and civic groups throughout the community will volunteer by ringing bells and collecting donations at the iconic red kettles.

Bell ringing will occur daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays at the entrance to City Market. No bell ringing will take place on Thanksgiving day.

As an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff, the Salvation Army of Archuleta County consistently supports those in need through emergency shelter, substance abuse rehabilitation, prescription medication assistance, and family and newborn support services.

All decisions are made locally by volunteers, enabling rapid adaptation to the community’s evolving needs.

One hundred percent of red kettle donations positively impact Archuleta County.

2024 impact highlights

Following are 2024 impact highlights (year-round services funded by prior campaigns):

• Provided 312 nights of safe emergency shelter to individuals and families facing homelessness or crisis.

• Delivered 1,840 meals through food pantry distributions and hot meal programs.

• Assisted 87 households with utility and rent payments to prevent evictions.

• Supplied prescription medications to 41 residents unable to afford critical treatments.

• Supported 19 families with newborn essentials, including diapers, formula and cribs.

These outcomes demonstrate the tangible difference every contribution makes in addressing poverty, addiction, and hardship right here in our community.

Every donation makes a meaningful impact. As you encounter a red kettle this holiday season, please consider contributing. Your generosity helps address human needs year-round.
