Sales tax revenues up through each month of first quarter

Overall sales tax collections for March of this year increased 9.12 percent compared to figures from 2024, according to data released recently by Archuleta County Finance Director Chad Eaton. 

That equates to $129,489.44 more received this past March than in March 2024.

Sales tax collections have been up every month from January through March of this year compared to 2024 figures.

Eaton notes that the Town of Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County received a total of $1,548,703.40 from the March sales tax and retail marijuana sales tax revenues, with $773,718 going to the county and $774,985.40 going to the town.

Categories that were up in comparison to March 2024 according to Eaton’s data include:

• Manufacturing at 22.55 percent, or $11,330.69.

• Retail trade at 7.15 percent, or $54,134.42.

• Information at 11.04 percent, or $2,854.56.

• Accommodation and Food Services at 14.54 percent, or $40,149.96.

• Miscellaneous at 15.37 percent, or $29,243.69.

Eaton’s data also identifies categories that were down in comparison to March 2024, which include:

• Construction at 6.87 percent, or $3,040.31.

• Finance and Insurance at 5.88 percent, or $94.74.

• Real Estate, Rental and Leasing at 6.74 percent, or $2,308.37.

• Professional, Scientific and Technical Services at 9.85 percent, or $1,591.30.

• Other Services (except Public Administration) at 5.19 percent, or $1,191.16.
