Runway for Rise sold out, but giving remains wide open

Tickets to Runway for Rise may be gone, but the chance to make a difference is not.

The event is officially sold out, yet supporters of Rise Above Violence and the 10 remarkable teams taking the runway on Saturday night can still be voted on. Every vote helps fund critical domestic and sexual violence services in our county.

The teams have been working hard for weeks, rallying friends, families and neighbors to raise funds for Rise. Now it comes down to the runway and to you. Donate to a team, help one of them become this year’s Pagosa Prada winner, and know that your gift goes straight to work for survivors in our community.

Meet the Mountain School Stars

Our last and final team raising funds for Rise and walking the runway on Saturday, Oct. 3, is team Mountain School Stars.

This group of students attends San Juan Mountain School and is led by teacher Jami Harms. Students Gracie, Izaiah, Jeylin, Kimmy Beasley, Lucy, Sierra, Angel, Zailey, Auggie, Stacey, Asha, Symphony and Melina are all working on the runway creation. We can’t wait to see it.

“Many of our team members have been touched by Rise and want to give back to support this amazing organization and all it does to support our community,” Mountain School Stars states. “San Juan Mountain School values healthy relationships and feeling safe to express oneself without fear of judgment or violence. Our students care and want to make a difference. They have a lot to say through their style, art and young voices.”

One gift, two votes

Saturday night just got bigger. A matching donor has stepped forward for the evening and will match up to $10,000 in team votes — dollar for dollar. That means a $20 vote for your favorite team becomes $40, and $100 becomes $200. Every dollar goes further, and every vote counts twice.
