Runway for Rise: Raising funds for 24/7 hotline support and more

Posted

When domestic and sexual violence happens, knowing where to turn can feel overwhelming. In Archuleta County, Rise Above Violence provides immediate, confidential and compassionate support to anyone experiencing interpersonal violence and needing safety and resources.

At the core of Rise’s emergency response is the 24-Hour Crisis Hotline. Available around the clock, 365 days a year, the hotline connects callers directly to trained advocates who listen without judgment and guide survivors through their options. Services are free and accessible in English, Spanish and additional languages through interpretation services. Last year, Rise answered 794 hotline calls.

The hotline is open to everyone, including:

• Concerned friends, family or neighbors seeking advice on how to safely support a loved one.

• Individuals questioning their relationship who aren’t sure if what they’re experiencing is abusive but know something feels wrong.

• Survivors of past abusive relationships who are working through ongoing emotional fallout, trauma or delayed stress.

• Anyone in immediate danger needing emergency assistance, safety planning or shelter options.

Survivor-led services and safety

Rise Above Violence emphasizes personalized safety planning. Advocates assist survivors in mapping out actionable steps to protect themselves and their children — whether they plan to leave, stay or are unsure of their next move. A comprehensive safety plan covers securing crucial legal documents, identifying emergency housing options, establishing discreet communication channels and locating safe transportation during a crisis.

Beyond the hotline, Rise Above Violence provides legal advocacy, crisis counseling and connections to long-term recovery resources.

Meet team Barista Baddies

At this year’s Runway for Rise event, we’re excited to welcome back two past winners who have teamed up and brought along a friend to help raise money for Rise Above Violence’s hotline and other services.

Team Barista Baddies features returning champions Hadley and Tanya, and proudly introduces Morgan to round out the team.

“We have seen the good Rise does in many people’s lives, and we want to continue to give back to our community and this organization,” the team states.

Rise can’t thank our teams enough for all the good they do: creating amazing recycled fashion outfits, raising funds for services and survivors, and raising awareness.

It’s incredible to see the work and commitment Team Barista Baddies and all the other 2026 Runway teams are contributing this year. Check them all out online at www.riseaboveviolence.org and vote with your dollars: $1 equals one vote.
