The Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs is inviting community members, families, organizations and local businesses to roll up their sleeves and join a community cleanup of Put Hill on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 8 to 10:30 a.m.
Volunteers will meet in the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts parking lot before heading out to clean up Put Hill.
Rotary will provide work gloves, trash bags, grabbers, snacks and water, so volunteers simply need to show up ready to lend a hand.
Put Hill is one of the most heavily traveled and visible areas of our community, welcoming residents and visitors as they make their way through Pagosa Springs. Keeping it clean is a simple project with an immediate and very noticeable result.
And Rotary would love some company.
“We hope this becomes more than just a Rotary cleanup,” said organizer and Rotarian Ben Fox. “We would love to see neighbors, families, community organizations and local businesses come out and work alongside us. This is our community, and taking care of it is something we can all do together.”
Local businesses are especially encouraged to gather a team of employees and join the effort. It can be an easy way to spend a couple of hours together outside the workplace while giving something back to the community.
For members of the Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs, the cleanup is another example of the organization’s commitment to “Service Above Self.”
Rotary service can take many forms, from scholarships and youth programs to supporting local nonprofits and international humanitarian projects. Sometimes, however, service is considerably less complicated: a pair of gloves, a trash bag and a willingness to leave a little corner of the community better than you found it.
Those small efforts add up quickly when people work together.
Community members do not need to be Rotarians to participate, and no special experience is required.
Just meet the Rotary crew at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts parking lot at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26. Volunteers can participate for all or part of the cleanup, which will continue until approximately 10:30 a.m.
Come meet your neighbors, help beautify Pagosa Springs and discover what can happen when a community tackles the trash together.
Volunteers are needed. Bring yourself, bring a friend, bring your coworkers and help us clean up Put Hill.
