Rise Above Violence marks 30 years of supporting domestic violence survivors

Posted

This year, Rise Above Violence marks a significant milestone: 30 years of being a change-maker for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in our community. Since our founding in 1996, Rise has remained steadfast in the belief that every individual has the right to live free from violence.

However, the need for our services is growing. In 2025 alone, we served more than 350 victims and survivors.

Rise is the only provider of direct victim services in Archuleta County, offering immediate help after a violent incident, guidance moving forward, education for starting anew, help in court and healing opportunities for a bright future.

Rise can’t do it alone. To meet this rising demand, we are looking for valiant volunteers to lead the way. You can personally make a difference in a survivor’s life.

Free community education class

Whether you are interested in becoming a volunteer victim advocate, a community ambassador,or simply want to be a more informed neighbor, this class is for you.

Violence affects us all, and most of us are connected to someone impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault. This training provides the tools to understand trauma and foster a culture of nonviolence in Pagosa Springs.

When: Late February (date to be finalized).

Time: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Where: Pagosa Springs (location details will be provided upon RSVP).

A complimentary lunch will be provided.

Ready to make a difference?

By becoming a valiant volunteer, you ensure that when a survivor calls for help at 2 a.m., a caring voice is there to answer. You help us turn “possibilities” into “realities” for those seeking safety. You are the perfect one to make a difference just as you are.
