The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), in cooperation with Road Safe Traffic, will begin the second phase of the rumble strip and pavement markings project on highways in southwest and south-central Colorado.
The contractor recently completed phase one with the installation of rumble strips at all locations in March.
Once the rumble striping operations were complete, crews took a short break before resuming work with striping operations at the beginning of April.
Current and upcoming striping locations include U.S. 160 east of Pagosa Springs to Alamosa from mile post 157.2 to mile post 233.93.
The project is anticipated to be completed later this summer in July.
Motorists should plan for:
• Monday through Friday with some Saturday work. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Various lane closures will take place within the work zones with reduced speeds.
• Plan ahead and expect short delays.
• This is a swift moving, mobile operation; although work zones will only be in place for a few hours, motorists are urged to use caution and watch for heavy equipment.
• Through lanes and turn lanes may be temporarily closed to traffic causing brief travel delays.
• Travelers are discouraged from passing the striping truck and crossing over fresh paint, as this may damage a vehicle’s finish. Please drive with patience during striping operations.
• Construction schedules could change depending on the weather. Visit COtrip.org for the latest information on road conditions.
