Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will focus on interdependence in September

Posted

This is a season of beginnings. The harvest begins in the fields and it is a time of gathering.

Consider gathering with the Pagosa Unitarian Universalist (UU) Fellowship as we introduce monthly themes to center our Sunday services and programs.

September brings new energy, and this month the focus will be interdependence, one of the six Shared Values of Unitarian Universalist faith foundation.

Join us most Sundays at 10:30 a.m., the first and third of which are worship-style services. We offer streaming through Zoom, and the information to join us virtually is in our monthly newsletter, which can be found at PagosaUU.org.

The September schedule is below, and, as a welcoming congregation, we are a community living our commitment to the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

• Sept. 6, 10:30 a.m.: Sunday service — UU Water Communion Service.

This UU annual tradition, celebrated by many UU congregations, is held when all are welcomed back to the community after the summer. We will have special music, stories and sharing as we drop a pebble to create a ripple of interdependence and honor the interdependent web of all existence and acknowledge our place in it. Those in attendance are invited to bring a small amount of water to be added to the common bowl. We will hold a ritual to bless this water as a symbol of shared community.

• Sept. 13, 10:30 a.m.: Going Deeper Sharing Circle.

This facilitated, small-group setting is where we invite sharing and deep a listening practice. We will explore the theme of interdependence more deeply. Come make friends and practice the art of listening with others.

• Sept. 20, 10:30 a.m.: Sunday service — “Mabon: Celebrating the Web of the Harvest.”

Join us this Sunday as we celebrate Mabon; the autumn equinox. Let us come together with gratitude in our hearts, as we give thanks and prepare for the darker days ahead. A community potluck will follow the service. All are welcome.

• Sept. 27, 10:30 a.m.: Action Sunday. We engage our lived values in the world, taking actions to learn and respond to justice making.

The fellowship is located at 301 N. Pagosa Blvd. Unit B-15 in Greenbriar Plaza, on the north side facing Pagosa Peak. Find us online at PagosaUU.org for the current newsletter and programs.
