Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will focus on interdependence

For Unitarian Universalists (UU), small group ministry is an opportunity for individual spiritual growth, while developing relationships of substance and depth. These groups encourage deep listening and personal reflection. As we continue our monthly theme of interdependence, the Going Deeper Sharing Circle will take place Sunday morning, Sept. 13, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

What if we are so much a part of the Earth that when we dislike ourselves, we also, essentially, dislike the Earth? What if, instead, we could love ourselves into wholeness? What if we could love ourselves into genuine justice for all?

These questions, posed by the Rev. Karen Van Fossan, will serve as a resource for our time together. As UUs, part of the theological grounding has roots in the transcendentalists movement, with the understanding “that the non-human world is more than inert matter moved by a mechanistic play of forces, but rather animated by a life force, a spark of the divine.” (Source: www.uua.org/beliefs/shared-values/theological-reflection/interdependence - author, Sheri Purd’homme.)

As we explore this topic with deep reverence for the earth and the more-than-human beings, we also allow space for reflection for whatever else is on our hearts. Come make friends and practice the art of listening with others.

The Pagosa UU Fellowship is located in the Greenbriar Plaza, Unit B-15, 301 N. Pagosa Blvd. on the north side facing Pagosa Peak.

At our website, PagosaUU.org, you will find information about upcoming services and programs. We offer space for ongoing programs and events at the UU Community Hub, such as the Tara Meditation Group held Sundays, which will resume soon from summer break, and Qigong practice on Monday afternoons at 1 p.m. The Wise and Wakeful Circle, hosted by Elaine Harding and Sam Johnson, meets the second and fourth Saturday at 10 a.m. All are welcome for mindfulness practice to connect with others while building community.
