Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship to collect school supplies for Action Sunday

Posted

As a faith community in a small town, the Pagosa Unitarian Universalist (UU) Fellowship is engaged in the community in ways that builds partnerships. One way we do this is through our Action Sundays, held the fourth Sunday of each month.

This week, on July 26 at 10:30 a.m., the Pagosa Fellowship will meet the moment by collecting school supplies to donate to Pagosa Community Initiative (PCI) as the students in our community prepare for the start of the school year. We welcome all donations, which can be dropped off Sunday morning, even if you choose not to stay for fellowship and refreshments.

As a small, lay-led congregation, we engage with resources from our community, our state and national organizations that shine a light on areas of injustice.

Our six shared values, all centered in love are:

• Interdependence: We honor the interdependent web of all existence and acknowledge our place in it.

• Pluralism: We are all sacred beings, diverse in culture, experience and theology.

• Justice: We work to be diverse multicultural Beloved Communities where all feel welcome and can thrive.

• Transformation: We adapt to the changing world.

• Generosity: We cultivate a spirit of gratitude and hope.

• Equity: We declare that every person is inherently worthy and has the right to flourish with dignity, love and compassion.

As we work toward embodying these values, we use Action Sunday as a catalyst for change in the world.

One newly formed resource we will utilize this year is UUCAN, the UU Colorado Action Network, a state-wide coalition of UU congregations focused on issues in Colorado which affect us all. If you are curious or want to learn more, join us for an informal gathering of service.

You can find us at Greenbriar Plaza, Unit B-15, 301 N. Pagosa Blvd. on the north side facing Pagosa Peak.

We also invite the community to explore various groups that meet in our Community Hub. The Tara Meditation Group is held Sundays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Qigong practice is on Monday afternoons, and the Wise and Wakeful Circle is held the second and fourth Saturdays at 10 a.m.
