The Pagosa Springs Middle School track and field team returned home from the May 3 San Juan Basin League tournament with the league title, capping of a successful season for the team. The school reports the program saw a record-breaking 70 student athletes participate, and the Pirates earned multiple meet victories, set “countless” personal records and had multiple student athletes — Raleigh Iverson, Jammer Grigsby, Rylan Ash, Bentely Briscoe, Ahrianna Martinez, Abigail Foss, Clara Kurz, Eathon Kinkead, Chatwin Pickering and Elijah Julian — contribute to the school’s record book. The boys’ team won the league title, with the girls’ team finishing second in the league.
