Pagosa Springs Dance Academy to hold ‘On Broadway’ recital

The Pagosa Springs Dance Academy invites the community to its annual spring recital this Saturday, May 2, at Pagosa Springs High School.

This year’s theme, “On Broadway,” showcases choreography inspired by the music and storytelling of the Broadway stage, with two unique performances: a matinee at 2 p.m. and an evening show at 6 p.m.

Each show will feature different routines, giving audiences two distinct and entertaining experiences.

The matinee will spotlight the studio’s youngest dancers alongside a mix of experienced performers, while the evening show will place a stronger focus on junior and teen dancers, including additional competitive team pieces.

Dancers in both shows will perform to a mix of well-known Broadway classics and lesser-known selections, with music from productions such as “Hamilton,” “The Sound of Music,” “The Lion King,” “Les Misérables” and more.

Both performances will also showcase the academy’s competitive dance team, highlighting routines they have performed throughout the season. Many of these pieces have earned awards at competitions, and the team is excited to share them with the community.

Community members are encouraged to come support these local dancers, who have worked hard all season to bring this show to the stage.

As a nonprofit organization, all proceeds from the recital go directly back into the studio to support its programs and students.

With a variety of styles, ages and performances, both shows promise to entertain and leave audiences humming their favorite Broadway tunes.

Tickets are available at the door or in advance at www.pagosadanceacademy.com.
