The Pagosa Peak Genealogical Society (PPGS) will hold its regular monthly meeting this Saturday, May 2.
We will meet from 10 a.m. to noon at the Community United Methodist Church, 434 Lewis St., in the fellowship hall.
There will be a short business meeting followed by a program by Leslie Eudy on her historic preservation project to update an online database of historic markers, www.HMdb.org, a searchable database of historic markers around the world.
Team members planned field trips to locate and update markers and found many new ones in the process. The project began with updating markers in the four closest counties with a goal to cover updates for the entire state.
The genealogical society meets on the first Saturday of each month. It hosts guest speakers on a wide range of topics relating to genealogy and history, including the rich history of our area.
