The Pagosa Community Initiative (PCI) is thrilled to announce the addition of four outstanding new members to the board of directors: Mary Sanders, Lars Schneider, Sandra Houston and Darryl Neier.

Their experience, commitment and community-minded leadership will be invaluable as PCI continues its mission to increase wellness and create a better quality of life for Archuleta residents.

PCI is Archuleta County’s only family resource center, providing vital services including mental health support, emergency funding, adult education, a food and toiletry shelf, and free after-school programming and summer camps. Our work is rooted in helping families thrive through practical support, compassionate outreach, and programs that strengthen the whole community.

Neier brings extensive leadership, governance and investigative experience, along with a strong record of public service. He expressed a deep interest in community-driven solutions and a commitment to responsible leadership that supports families and creates lasting opportunity. His passion for PCI is rooted in the belief that strong, ethical board leadership can help a nonprofit grow its impact and serve the community more effectively.

Schneider is a local business owner with a clear passion for empowerment and opportunity. In his application, he shared that he values PCI’s creative outreach and wants to help develop financial education resources that give people tools for long-term stability. His entrepreneurial background and firsthand understanding of hardship will help strengthen PCI’s efforts to support families working toward a better future.

Houston joins the board with a strong community spirit and a commitment to service. Her enthusiasm for PCI reflects a belief in the organization’s role as a trusted local partner for families and children, especially through programs that offer stability, encouragement and connection. She is excited to help further PCI’s mission and contribute to the positive momentum already underway.

Sanders brings both strong professional experience and a deep commitment to community service. Her background reflects years of work supporting local organizations and helping connect people with meaningful resources, along with experience in grant writing and nonprofit development that strengthens PCI’s ability to grow and sustain its mission. She is passionate about PCI because she believes in practical, community-based support that helps families build stability, confidence and opportunity, and she is eager to contribute her skills to an organization making a real difference in Archuleta County.

Carrie Blue-White, PCI’s board chair, said she is honored to welcome these four new members and looks forward to the insight, energy and dedication they will bring to PCI’s board.

“Their diverse backgrounds and shared commitment to service will help us continue building a stronger, healthier community,” she said.
