As summer begins to wind down, the Pagosa Community Initiative (PCI) is preparing to help local students start the new school year with confidence.
Families are invited to attend PCI’s Back-to-School Fair on Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Pagosa Springs High School commons.
This free community event is designed to help ease the financial burden that often comes with preparing children for a new school year while creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere for families. Students will have access to free school supplies, complimentary haircuts provided by local volunteer stylists, hygiene products and more.
In addition to these services, families will have the opportunity to connect with a variety of local organizations that will be on-site sharing information about programs and resources available throughout Archuleta County.
Whether families are looking for educational opportunities, health resources, youth activities or family support services, the event aims to bring many of these community resources together in one convenient location.
“Our hope is that every family who attends leaves feeling supported and excited for the upcoming school year,” said Steven Viola, family services director for PCI. “Going back to school should be an exciting time for children, and we want to help reduce some of the stress that families may experience by providing school essentials, free services and connections to valuable community resources.”
Planning for the event is still underway, and additional activities, services and community partners continue to be added. PCI is grateful for the generosity of local businesses, organizations, volunteers, and community members who have come together to support local students and make this event possible.
Families are encouraged to mark their calendars and join PCI on Aug. 22 for a day dedicated to preparing students for a successful school year while celebrating the strength and generosity of the Pagosa Springs community.
