Pagosa Catholic Community to commemorate Divine Mercy Sunday on April 12

Posted

This year marks a beautiful milestone for the Pagosa Catholic Community as they celebrate the 25th anniversary of their local celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, a devotion that has drawn countless hearts closer to the boundless compassion of Christ.

What began as a simple invitation to trust in Jesus has grown into a cherished annual tradition — one that continues to renew, heal and inspire.

The Divine Mercy Novena, given to St. Faustina and recorded in her 1934-1938 diary, begins on April 3(Good Friday). The nine-day novena prayer culminates on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 12, with a prayerful celebration led by Guiseppe and Maureen Margiotta.

As attendees commemorate 25 years of devotion, they also remember the message entrusted to St. Faustina: “Jesus, I trust in You.” These words carry communities around the world through seasons of hope, challenge and renewal.

This annual gathering invites all to pause, give thanks and recommit themselves to being instruments of mercy in their homes, parish and world.

To honor this special anniversary, parishioners and visitors are invited to gather for a joyful celebration on Divine Mercy Sunday at Pope John Paul II Catholic Church. The church is located at 353 S. Pagosa Blvd., and the April 12 program will start at 2:45 p.m.

Following the program, the Knights of Columbus Council 7560 will host a light reception with food and refreshments, which will allow attendees time for fellowship as they rejoice in God’s mercy. The Knights’ generosity reflects the very heart of this feast: service rooted in love, hospitality and unity.

All are welcome to join for prayer, celebration and community as the Pagosa Catholic Community honors this blessed feast. For more information, visit ihmjp2.org or call the Parish Office at (970) 731-5744.
