Pagosa Springs-based VOORMI, a new-to-the-scene innovator of domestically sourced, precision blended wool, has been named the winner of the 2013 Something Independent Wright Award.

Selected from a list of more than 200 nominees, VOORMI was among 14 contending Colorado companies to present their stories to a panel of judges in Denver this week.

Now in its third year, the Wright Award showcases Colorado lifestyle companies impacting their communities, inspiring the next generation of founders, and successfully operating at the important intersection of lifestyle and commerce. Contenders were charged with creating a 90-second video to convey their company’s core business proposition, vision, and how Colorado has influenced their inception, culture and growth.

VOORMI’s winning video illustrated the brand’s entrepreneurial vision to create small batch, handcrafted, technical clothing manufactured in the United States using wool sourced exclusively from the Rocky Mountains.

“VOORMI is a brand built around the southern Colorado backcountry, and made specifically for people who live and play in extraordinary places like our state,” noted Timm Smith, director of brand marketing for VOORMI. “We were thrilled to be nominated for this award and to be listed among so many innovative Colorado companies.”

VOORMI’s full line of base-layers and mid-layers will hit shelves in November.
