A two-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. 160 at Aspen Village Drive at about 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31.
According to Pagosa Springs Police Chief William Rockensock, the drivers of both vehicles were transported with injuries.
Rockensock explained that a Subaru Forester driven by a male was in the left-hand turn lane on U.S. 160 waiting to turn and, while it had a flashing yellow light, decided to make its turn.
A Ford Explorer driven by a female was traveling eastbound on U.S. 160 approaching Aspen Village Drive, with the Explorer striking the Forester “almost head-on,” according to Rockensock.
Rockensock reported Tuesday the extent of the female’s injuries were unknown, but she was transported. She was alone in the vehicle.
The male was also transported, with Rockensock explaining he did not believe the man received major injuries.
The man, he added, was charged with failing to yield to oncoming traffic when making a left-hand turn.
