A Memorial Day ceremony will take place on Monday, May 26, to honor citizens who died defending American freedom.
The events will begin at 10 a.m. at the flagpole at Hilltop Cemetery.
That ceremony, conducted by the American Legion Post 108 Honor Guard.
According to Archuleta County Veteran Service Officer Raymond Taylor, the ceremony is anticipated to include flyovers by the San Juan Flyers and a program that will include, among other things, an address from Commissioner John Ranson, the reading of Archuleta County’s war dead and veterans who have passed in the last 12 months, a rifle volley, a Native American warrior ceremony and laying of wreaths.
All are welcome at the event.
