County's mandatory evacuations to be lifted at 6 p.m. on Oct. 14

Update, 5:45 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14: All county roads are now open.

Original: According to Archuleta County Sheriff Mike Le Roux, mandatory evacuations will be lifted at 6 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, Oct. 14.

A statement from the sheriff notes that, at 4 p.m., the river flow was observed at 11.23 feet and 5,900 cubic feet per second.

"We are continuing to assess infrastructure throughout the county to ensure safe reentry into impacted areas," it states.

It adds, "There is a 75% [chance] of additional precipitation forecated for tomorrow that will be [intermittent] heavy thundershowers. These storms will be brief in intensity but bring chances of high winds up to 50 mph and potential 1/4 inch hail. The shelter will remain on standby in the event it is necessary to reopen. Please be aware of your surroundings. With the saturated grounds, high winds and additional precipitation may lead to additional damage."
