From the March 17, 1950, Pagosa SUN — READY TO GO — A team is harnessed and hitched up as Ray and Carl Macht prepare for the daily chore of feeding cattle on the Macht Ranch. Over 300 head of cattle are fed each morning during the winter time. About 2-1/2 to 3 tons of hay are loaded on the sled, hauled to the feed grounds, and then distributed to the cattle and several head of horses. Hay comes from stockyards early in the winter and then from haysheds later in the winter.
