From the March 26, 1970, Pagosa SUN — PLENTY OF ELK — A large herd of elk, over 250, was sighted recently in the Mill Creek area. This photo shows part of that herd out in the open. The elk appeared fat and smooth and the herd covered a large area. They moved quickly in the light snow and at times presented quite a problem for anyone trying to count them.
