From the July 13, 1989, Pagosa SUN — WELCOME CHANGE — Carl Bolt finally had something to smile about Wednesday morning. The water gauge at Bolt’s U.S. Weather Station showed .55 inches of rain fell Tuesday night. It was the first significant precipitation for Pagosa Springs since early March. After eight days of record setting high temperatures — 94,93,95,98,99 (July 6), 96,96,93 — the high on Monday, July 10 dropped to 84.5. Bolt said the cool air and rain were a welcome change.
