From the July 27, 1967, Pagosa SUN — ECHO DAM — The Echo Canyon Dam south of Pagosa Springs is nearing completion. This SUN photo shows the height of the dam from downstream. The earthmoving machinery on top of the dam gives an idea of how long the dam is in size comparison. The small stream in the foreground will be used to fill the dam when spring runoff takes place.
