During a regular meeting held by the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) on Tuesday, Oct. 21, the BoCC unanimously voted to enter into an employment agreement with Longinos Gonzalez Jr. for the county manager position.
Gonzalez was named as the sole finalist for the position during a regular BoCC meeting held on Oct. 7, with Commissioner Warren Brown being appointed as the negotiator for Gonzalez’s employment contract.
According to the Oct. 21 agenda, “After careful consideration of applicants, the Board wishes to employ Longinos Gonzalez Jr. as the Archuleta County Manager.”
No employment agreement was attached in the Oct. 21 meeting agenda documents.
According to an employment agreement shared with The SUN on Wednesday, Oct. 22, Gonzalez will receive an annual salary of $150,000 with the term of the agreement being three years.
Also according to the agreement, Gonzalez will also receive 176 hours per year and 40 hours of flex time and will not receive a motor vehicle or cellphone allowance.
If employment is terminated without cause by the county, it will provide a severance payment equal to four months’ salary.
In an email to The SUN, Commissioner Veronica Medina indicated that Gonzalez’s first official day was Oct. 24.
“I am looking forward to working with Mr. Gonzalez so we can continue moving forward and accomplish our county priorities,” Medina adds.
