Travers Vasek, a standout pianist and graduating senior at Pagosa Springs High School, will present his senior recital on Sunday, May 31, at 3 p.m. in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium.
The program will feature a selection of renowned classical works including:
• Bach: “Prelude and Fugue.”
• Beethoven: “Moonlight Sonata.”
• Beethoven: “Sonata Pathétique.”
• Chopin: “Waltz.”
• Liszt: “Liebestraum.”
Vasek has been studying piano under the instruction of Dan and Venita Burch since moving to Pagosa Springs two years ago. During that time, he has served as the accompanist for the high school choir under Leo Baughman and performed for Bob Hemenger’s Americana Project class.
Known for his remarkable ability to memorize music quickly and his impressive technical skill, Vasek captivates audiences with the speed and artistry of his playing.
“He plays with dazzling speed and precision,” those close to his playing often remark.
He has become a favorite performer in the community, drawing praise for both his talent and stage presence.
Following graduation, Vasek will attend Colorado State University in the fall on a substantial scholarship.
He has also received multiple scholarship offers from other colleges and universities.
He has a desire to study abroad as part of his musical journey. His long-term goal is to continue his musical education at a prestigious conservatory such as The Juilliard School or the Curtis Institute of Music.
The community is invited to attend this event and celebrate the accomplishments of one of Pagosa Springs’ most talented young musicians.
