Posted

On Tuesday, March 28, Archuleta County Clerk and Recorder Kristy Archuleta announced the local candidates who have been verified to be on the June 30 primary ballot.

According to an email to The SUN, two candidates’ petitions were verified as sufficient for Archuleta County commissioner, District 3: Randy Betts and Veronica Medina.

Archuleta notes the order the candidates appear on the ballot will be determined by a lot drawing.

The following incumbent candidates were also verified: Mike Le Roux (county sheriff), Archuleta (county clerk and recorder), Johanna Tully-Elliott (county assessor), Elsa P. White (county treasurer) and Brad Hunt (county coroner).

Additional candidates could be in play for the primaries, however, with April 24 being the last day to file an affidavit of intent to run as a write-in candidate.

The content for the primary ballot will be set by May 1.

Ballots under the Uniformed And Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act will be sent out beginning May 15, with all other ballots being mailed beginning June 8.

Archuleta notes the last day to affiliate or change affiliation for the primary election is June 8.
