The Pagosa Springs High School Lady Pirate volleyball team will be looking to turn the tide as it hosts the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers on Tuesday, Sept. 30, for a league matchup.
Action is anticipated to begin at 6 p.m. against the Panthers, who are 9-5 on the season and 1-1 in Intermountain League (IML action).
The Lady Pirates hold an 0-4 IML record and sit at 2-10 overall after falling prey to the Centauri Falcons and Kirtland Central Broncos on the road over the last week.
The Lady Pirates first traveled to La Jara on Sept. 20 to take on the Falcons, but returned home with a 3-0 loss.
The Falcons won 25-17, 25-3 and 25-15.
The Falcons are now 8-3 on the season and 1-1 in IML action.
Then, on Tuesday, Sept. 23, the Lady Pirates traveled to New Mexico to take on the Kirtland Central Broncos.
The Broncos, who are now 7-3 on the season, won in three sets: 25-17, 25-17 and 25-20.
Additional stats were not available for the matchups.
Coach Chelsea Caler did not respond to requests for comments by press time Wednesday, but previously wrote in an email to The SUN, “Moving forward, the focus will be on making a few defensive adjustments against faster teams, and keeping our offense aggressive and versatile against strong defenses like Cortez and Bayfield.”
