The girls now have their sights set on the 4A Region 3 tournament this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13 and14, in Hotchkiss at North Fork High School.
The top four individual finishers will qualify for the state tournament in Denver.
Action will begin at 2 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.
“The Western Slope region is one of the toughest regions for both boys and girls, as the West Slope is the home of the oldest wrestling programs in the state’s history, dating back to the first state tournaments in the 1930’s,” Janowsky wrote in an email to The SUN.
Janowsky noted he hopes that four or five girls can qualify for the state tournament this weekend, but that it will be tough and will take some really good performances.
