The Pagosa Springs High School Lady Pirate basketball finished out 2025 with a win after dropping its first two games in Montrose at the Black Canyon Classic last week, moving to 3-3 overall on the season.

“We had a challenging weekend in the Black Canyon Classic, we played well against a tough Montrose team who is very disciplined, well coached, and has some talented players,” coach Sarah Osborn wrote in an email to The SUN. “We haven’t played four quarters consistently well though, that is something we are looking to start doing in the new year.”

The 4A Lady Pirates took on a trio of 5A teams at the tournament.

The Lady Pirates opened the tournament against Montrose on Thursday, Dec. 18, losing 58-28.

The Lady Pirates played from behind the entire game and at halftime trailed 27-16. The Lady Pirates were outscored 14-2 in the third quarter and, despite scoring in double digits for the first time in the game in the fourth quarter, were unable to overcome the deficit.

Eight Lady Pirates got on the score sheet against Montrose, with Liana Vega and Kaila Limebrook each leading the team with six points. Amber Snarr followed with five. Adelyn Hittle and Charity Domingo put up three each, Ximena Garcia and Bella Adkisson each added two, and Lexi Campbell put up one.

The team made seven of 15 attempts from the free-throw line.

The Lady Pirates bested the Red Hawks 25-23 in rebounds, led by five each from Snarr and Campbell.

The Lady Pirates ended the game with 27 turnovers and seven steals.

On Friday, Dec. 19, the Lady Pirates faced off against the Glenwood Springs Demons and lost 38-24.

A zero point second quarter put the Lady Pirates in another double-digit hole going into halftime that they couldn’t recover from.

Ahrianna Martinez and Adkisson both lead the Lady Pirates with six points. Limebrook and Dawson Iverson tallied three points each, and Snarr put up one.

The team made six of 10 shots from the charity stripe.

The Lady Pirates snagged 34 rebounds as a team, led by Adkisson’s seven and six each from Hittle and Campbell.

The Lady Pirates notched 11 steals, but turned the ball over 22 times.

In their final game of the tournament on Saturday, Dec. 20, the Lady Pirates got a win to close out the year, beating Pueblo Central 46-18.

The Lady Pirates built a seven-point lead heading into halftime and extended it to 28 after outscoring the Wildcats by 21 in the second half.

Ten Lady Pirates scored in the matchup. Hittle led the team in scoring with 12 points, Limebrook added 10 of her own, and Campbell and Domingo each added five points. Garcia, Victoria Currier and Adkisson each added three. Liana Vega and Snarr notched two each, and Martinez contributed one.

The Lady Pirates made 16 of 35 free-throw attempts.

The Lady Pirates bested the Wildcats in rebounds 36-24, led by Limebrook’s seven and Hittle’s six. Twelve Lady Pirates pulled down rebounds in the win.

The Lady Pirates finished the game with 27 turnovers and 18 steals.

“I saw some younger players give us valuable minutes and energy, which was huge,” wrote Osborn after the tournament. “Overall, the strongest performances came from players who defended, communicated, and did the little things that don’t always show up in the stat sheet.”

The Lady Pirates will now take a break before they are back in action in early January.

Heading into the new year, Osborn notes she wants to focus on consistency, discipline on both ends of the floor and continuing to build chemistry.

The Lady Pirates’ season will start back up with back-to-back games at the Holy Family Invite.

The first is at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, in Broomfield against the Holy Family Tigers, who are 3-2 on the season.

The second is at noon on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, against the Kent Denver Sun Devils, who are 3-4.

“We want to become a team that plays hard for 32 minutes, trusts each other, and executes our game plan no matter who we’re playing,” wrote Osborn.
