Later that day, the Lady Pirates closed out the season with a win over the Delta Panthers, winning the first set 25-20 and the second 25-21.
Stats from the matchup were not available by press time.
The Panthers are now 5-18 on the season.
“What stood out most to us was their grit and composure, they truly dug deep and battled hard, especially against Glenwood, where they played one of their best matches of the year and kept them out of system nearly the entire game,” Caler wrote. “It was also one of our best weekends serving as a team, and Lexi really shined all-around with her kills, digs, and serve receive. Hayden had an excellent weekend as well, running the offense and contributing in every area.”
The Lady Pirates ended the season with a 5-18 record, with Caler indicating the team experienced a lot of growth.
“Looking back on the season as a whole, the biggest areas of growth were confidence and competing at a higher level,” she wrote. “By the end of the season, we were playing with belief, adapting defensively, improving our blocking, and learning to be smarter offensively. Even though we weren’t the biggest hitting team, we learned how to use strategy and placement to our advantage and keep teams out of system. The potential moving forward is exciting, our C and JV teams are learning the same systems and expectations, so we’re entering next season at a much higher starting point as a program.”
The Lady Pirates will lose five starters from this year’s squad to graduation: Domingo, Campbell, Peterson, Snarr and Limebrook.
“We’ll definitely miss this senior group. All five were starters and key pieces to the team this year. They brought heart, energy, and a lot of fun to the program,” Caler wrote, adding she wishes them all the best as they move on.
