Inaugural Grillin’ and Distillin’ set for Aug. 23

Posted

August is such a wonderful month; it is still summer, which is a time to relax and enjoy the company of friends. School in Pagosa Springs doesn’t start until September.

Why not join the Chamber of Commerce at our first Grillin’ and Distillin’ event? It will be Saturday, Aug. 23. The event will be held at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds from noon to 5 p.m.

Grillin’ and Distillin’ combines the best of two worlds. There will be BBQ to taste and vote on, spirits to taste and vote on, food trucks, retail vendors and, of course, live music.

Grillers will be judged on chicken, brisket, ribs and beans. There will be a People’s Choice award for both grillin’ and distillin’ where you, the community, get to vote on who you think makes the best BBQ and spirits.

To be a part of the tasting crew, you will need to get a tasting ticket either online at pagosachamber.com or at the gate on Aug. 23. It is $25 per tasting ticket or $45 for a combined tasting ticket. General admission is $10 and you get to enjoy beer/wine, food trucks and some amazing music.

We will have two performers on Saturday. From 1 to 2:30 p.m. we will have the country music of Tylor Brandon and, back by popular demand, from 3 to 5 p.m. we will have Sol Over Luna.

All awards will be announced at 5 p.m.

Now for the exciting announcement about our distillers. We will have several distillers that are a part of the Colorado Distillers Guild, and we are excited to show them how great Pagosa Springs is.

This is an inaugural event for the Chamber, and we are looking forward to sharing this event with everyone and watching it grow for years to come. This event is fun for the whole family, and a great way to enjoy food and music. We will have plenty of parking since it is at the fairgrounds, so invite your friends and let’s enjoy our first Grillin’ and Distillin’.

As summer ends and fall begins, there is no better way to celebrate fall in Pagosa Springs than ColorFest.

This year, ColorFest weekend will be Sept. 19-21.

Believe it or not, it will be our 39th annual ColorFest.

The Passport to Pagosa will be Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m., and Bands and Brews on Sept. 20 will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Weather permitting, there will also be a balloon glow at about 7:30 p.m.

The Passport to Pagosa and the Bands and Brews events will be held at Yamaguchi Park this year.

We will have balloon take off at 8 a.m. on Sept. 20 from the Hot Springs Boulevard area south of The Springs Resort and on Sept. 21 from the west side area near Walmart.

It will be a magnificent time, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again this year and welcoming new friends.

Tickets are on sale now at pagosachamber.com. If you have any questions, you can always call us at (970) 264-2360. We’ll see you at an upcoming event.
