Move over, New York Fashion Week. This season’s hottest runway stars have wet noses, four legs and wagging tails.

The Humane Society of Pagosa Springs is celebrating 30 years of the Auction for the Animals with a spectacular Pet Fashion Show at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts on Saturday, Sept. 6.

From the kennel to the catwalk, rescue pets will take center stage, showing off their unique style and sharing the stories that brought them there.

This is the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser of the year, and it is more important than ever. Construction along U.S. 160 has sharply reduced sales at the Humane Society’s Thrift Store, a vital funding source that normally covers half of the shelter’s operating budget.

“The Auction for the Animals is a lifeline for pets in need,” said Executive Director Elizabeth Kirwin. “Every ticket and every auction bid provides food, shelter and medical care for homeless animals in Archuleta County. We simply couldn’t do this lifesaving work without the community’s support.”

Guests will start the evening with a complimentary drink and enjoy a selection of hearty small plates. The menu will feature dishes like smoked petite filet medallions and toasted Italian meatballs, along with a variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options. A cash bar will also be available.

Jazz musician Maxwell Miller will set the mood with Frank Sinatra favorites and other timeless classics while guests browse the silent auction.

Afterward, the excitement will continue with a live auction featuring travel packages, gift certificates and handcrafted, rare artwork.

All of the evening’s festivities will support pets in need while celebrating the lives forever changed.

For three decades, the Auction for the Animals has saved lives and created thousands of happy endings. Join the celebration on Sept. 6 and help ensure the next 30 years are filled with hope and new beginnings.
