Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County is gearing up to build the last four houses over the summer in 2026 to complete our “15 Homes in 5 Years” campaign.
We’ve built 11 homes since 2022, providing school teachers, public employees, hospitality and service workers affordable homeownership opportunities.
Urgent truck need on jobsites
Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County is currently seeking the donation of a late model work truck to support construction and jobsite logistics.
A truck donation will help transport tools, materials and volunteers, reducing operating costs and keeping build projects on schedule.
The truck’s market value can be deducted as a charitable donation when the vehicle is used by Habitat Archuleta. Please call the Habitat office at (970) 264-6960 with any questions about how to donate.
Spring cleaning and getting rid of old vehicles
Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County is encouraging community members to donate any old vehicles through Habitat for Humanity International’s Cars for Homes program to support its local affordable housing mission.
Donors can begin the process online or by calling the Habitat International vehicle donation hotline at (877) 277-4344. Staff or representatives will ask for basic vehicle information, including make, model, vehicle identification number (VIN) and current mileage, then help schedule a pickup time.
Most donations are picked up at no cost to the donor, and vehicles don’t need to be running.
Tax benefits for donors
Donating your vehicle can offer valuable tax advantages in Colorado.
As a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Habitat for Humanity provides documentation needed for tax purposes. If the vehicle sells for more than $500, donors may generally deduct the full selling price. If the vehicle sells for $500 or less, donors may deduct the fair market value of the vehicle, up to $500 — though donors should consult a tax professional to determine how this applies to their personal situation and Colorado tax filings.
Within 30 days of the vehicle’s sale, donors receive a written acknowledgment with the sale price and details needed to support a charitable deduction on federal and Colorado returns.
