Fundraiser to support local couple following terminal cancer diagnosis

Posted

Join us on Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 220 Vista Blvd., for a fundraiser supporting Jason and Janie Hands.

In November 2025, a cancer diagnosis was made for Jason with thyroid and liver — a terminal condition— and they were referred to hospice services.

Jason and Janie Hands had been a local legend for home care management services. Now Janie Hand works 15 hours weekly, caregiving the remainder for Jason Hand. Income is drastically cut while bills grow. Key nutrients, food and related expenses are not within reach with severe conditions.

Jason Hand’s health status has drastically declined. He is no longer engaging in his favorite art and pastimes, while visiting with friends.

Our goal is to ensure his remaining time is spent focusing on a good quality of life, surrounded by love from family and friends.

Jason Hands is facing a tough battle with terminal cancer, and his family is doing everything they can to focus on quality time and love. They need help covering essential expenses like groceries, utilities and car repairs — especially since his wife Janie is caring for him full-time.

Even a small contribution can make a big difference in easing their financial worries during this difficult time.

Please consider donating or sharing to help them find some peace and support: https://gofund.me/9052b7a2e.

The goal is $25,000 to pay for Jason Hands, cover their costs and replace her car for safe, reliable transportation.

We humbly request support to cover current and growing expenses, not covered by insurance, i.e. transportation, home care, maintenance bills and funeral expenses. Any contributions, whatever the size, makes a significant difference. Your kindness and support mean the world during these uniquely challenging times.

Ways to support them by attending the event, where all proceeds will go directly to Jason and Janie Hands:

• Dine with family and friends.

• Enjoy music as you eat (several local volunteering musicians will entertain you while supporting a key cause).

• Bring your baked goods, place into zip lock bags for attendees to secure via donations.

• Bring for sale items for display and purchase.

Note: bring a lawn chair to enjoy the music as you dine.
