The San Juan National Forest Pagosa Ranger District has flagged the boundaries for a hazardous fuels reduction project in the Turkey Springs and Brockover Mesa areas.
The project will involve the mowing of small-diameter trees and shrubs to reduce ladder fuels and increase the spacing between the crowns of trees. This will reduce the likelihood of a fire transitioning from the ground to the forest canopy.
