The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced Monday afternoon that it has arrested a father and teenage son for the murder of the boy’s mother in Pagosa Springs on July 2.
Charles Christopher Martinez, age 43, and his 17-year-old son, Hevon Martinez, both of Cortez, have both been booked on the count of first-degree murder, according to CBI.
The teen, who was already in custody on separate charges, will be charged as an adult, according to CBI. His father was taken into custody in Cortez and booked into the Archuleta County Detention Center Tuesday.
The investigation began on the morning of July 2, when 911 dispatch operators received an emergency call from a phone belonging to 38-year-old Chrystal Snow, a CBI press release describes. When Archuleta County deputies arrived at her home, they discovered she had been shot to death.
CBI received assistance in this case from the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office, the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, the Cortez Police Department and the 6th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, it states.
Both suspects are presumed innocent unless and until, proven guilty in a court of law, CBI notes.
