At the suggestion of our October speaker, Dr. Erin Clarkinson of Dignity Care Colorado (Durango), we have invited a highly skilled and experienced hospice specialist to be our speaker on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Alison Mowery is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 10 years of experience in long-term, palliative and home hospice care.
For many years, she has been covering the Archuleta County area for Common Spirit Health, Hospice of Mercy’s program, so she is familiar with our specific issues and resources.
Her passion includes helping the older population and individuals facing life-threatening illnesses to navigate the complicated health care system and minimize obstacles for patients and their families. She is well versed in what Medicare will and will not cover during home and facility care. After her presentation, she will answer questions.
We hope you will join us for this gathering in the fellowship hall of the Methodist Church at 434 Lewis St. on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. Enter through the side door off the parking lot, as the front doors may be locked. Feel free to bring snacks to share if you choose. There will be a donation jar for the use of the room.
This will be the 10th meeting of the End of Life Education group. What we have learned during 2024 has exceeded our expectations and sets the stage for further learning in 2025. Please bring your suggestions for follow-up to the November meeting.
