Posted

Davian Coss, 18, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on April 1.

Davian is the son of Jaime and Eliza Coss and has two sisters, Kyleah and Harmony.

Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is a lifelong honor, showcasing his unwavering dedication and perseverance. He selflessly shares his knowledge and skills to support those around him, embodying the Scout Law and Scout Oath in every facet of his life. Always seeking the next challenge and embracing every opportunity with optimism, he stands as a true role model to his peers.

He is a member of Troop 807 of the Great Southwest Council, located in Pagosa Springs. Troop 807 is chartered with Grace in Pagosa and is supported by the Community United Methodist Church.

To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must complete requirements for six prior ranks and earn at least 21 merit badges. Of those, 14 are required to achieve Eagle Scout rank, then the Scout must earn an additional seven (or more) badges of his or her choosing. Learning leadership skills and performing acts of community service prepares the Scout to conduct a community service project, known as the Eagle Project.

Davian earned 26 merit badges and completed his Eagle Project in November 2024.

Multiple donation days were held at Chow Down to support the Humane Society. In addition to the donations received, Davian built and placed a donation box within Chow Down so donations can continue to be collected as community members purchase items for their own pets.

Davian is planning to attend Colorado State University Pueblo in fall, majoring in kinesiology and pursuing his love for football.

Applying leadership and teamwork skills he has cultivated through sports and Scouts, he intends to pursue a career as a physical education teacher and sports coach.

Through the support of his family, friends, community members, his fellow Scouts, along with his own dedication, Davian joins an elite group of Scouts.
