Auditions for the musical comedy “Honk!” will be held in the Pagosa Springs High School (PSHS) music room on Thursday, Sept. 17, and Friday, Sept. 18, from 6 to 9 p.m.
All community members are invited to join this production as the cast will feature both adults and children (at least 8 years old).
The audition will require candidates to present a one-minute song and read from provided selections of the script. A short dance number will also be taught to those auditioning.
All audition candidates should review the link at bit.ly/4xoNwWd, in which “Honk!” Director Jeannie Abbas details the audition process, rehearsal schedule and descriptions of the show’s characters.
An audition form can also be accessed and completed from this link, as well as the script selections from which candidates will read as part of the audition.
Rehearsals for our show will commence the afternoon of Sept. 26 at PSHS, and then run from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday from Sept. 28 into early November. Rehearsals will extend to 9 p.m. from Nov. 9 until the performances.
“Honk!” will be performed four times on the PSHS stage at 7 p.m., on the evenings of Nov. 19, 20 and 21, and with a 2 p.m. afternoon matinee on Nov. 21.
This production is a modern musical based on Hans Christian Andersen’s heart warming story of “The Ugly Duckling,” featuring an odd-looking young bird who is teased by the other farmyard animals for being different. He ventures on a countryside journey of self-discovery, outwits a hungry cat and transforms into a handsome swan.
Curtains Up Pagosa also welcomes community members interested in being production crew members. If interested, drop by one of the audition sessions or early rehearsals during the last week of September.
If this show appeals to your talents and desires, please go to the link above, consider attending one of the audition sessions next week, and give it a try. While being a cast member requires your time, focus and energy, it will also reward you with the joy of producing an enjoyable and entertaining effort for our community with some of Pagosa’s most fun folks.
