County forming panel to consider new courthouse

With the condition of the existing courthouse continuing to be a thorn in the side of the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners, the board voted Tuesday afternoon to create a citizen committee to look at obtaining a new facility.

The move came following an executive session during Tuesday afternoon’s regular meeting.

The committee is slated to consist of citizens chosen by the BoCC, including both those the board seeks out and, potentially, citizens who express interest in serving on the panel.

In an interview Wednesday, BoCC Vice Chair Steve Wadley said the citizen panel will probably consist of about five people.
