On Sept. 18 at approximately 11 a.m., the Conejos County Sheriff’s Office recovered two unidentified males 2 miles from the Rio De Los Pinos Trailhead following an extensive search operation.
This search was made possible through the coordinated response of multiple resources
including ground search and rescue teams, law enforcement teams, Forest Service crew, air
support, canine units, horseback riders, and the more than 170 personnel who assisted in the

The commitment, coordination and professionalism of all those involved in the search are
a testament to our efforts. This collaborative effort reflects the strength of our
community and the unwavering dedication to every volunteer and agency involved. We
are proud of the perseverance demonstrated throughout the search.
At this time, the individuals remain unidentified. The investigation is ongoing, and no
further details are available pending identification and notification of next-of-kin.
