Community uniting for Saturday’s for Rise Above Violence fundraiser

Posted

This Saturday, Oct. 4, the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts will transform into a runway of hope as the annual Runway for Rise fundraising event takes center stage at 6 p.m.

As Domestic Violence Awareness Month begins, this fashion-forward fundraiser brings together community members to support Rise Above Violence and its vital programs for victims of domestic and sexual violence in our community.

Among the talented participants this year are two remarkable teams ready to make their mark on the runway.

Team Haute Mess joins the competition with a powerful mission.

“Why we are involved is simple: for every one person that is able to help, there are 10 people in need of it. We hope to use joy and inspiration to raise awareness and funds for a most crucial cause in our community,” the team shares.

Team Conquer the Divide is composed of both returning and new competitors bringing both experience and fresh energy to the runway.

Despite being spread across the state, they unite for a common purpose: “Our team is participating in Runway for Rise to take a stand against domestic violence. By working together to solve problems and raise awareness, we aim to remind everyone that violence is never the answer. We are committed to being part of the solution — and creating a safer, more compassionate community for all.”

New this year: silent auction and $10,000 matching donation

The 2025 event introduces an exciting silent auction alongside the runway competition.

Additionally, an anonymous sponsor has generously offered to match up to $10,000 in donations made to teams during the night of the event. Attendees are encouraged to vote generously to help meet this matching challenge.

How you can support

Tickets for Saturday’s event are still available for purchase.

Can’t attend in person? You can still support your favorite team by donating online or bidding in the silent auction at www.riseaboveviolence.org.

All proceeds from team donations, ticket sales and the silent auction directly support Rise Above Violence’s essential programs.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The timing of Runway for Rise coincides with the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Oct. 1.

This month is dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence, its impact on individuals and communities, and the resources available for those affected. Through education, prevention strategies and advocacy for policy changes, the month encourages survivors to seek help and promotes understanding of the need for social change.
