The Community United Methodist Church will host a Prayer Vigil for Peace and Hope on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 4 p.m. at the church, located at 434 Lewis St.
The vigil is being held in response to ongoing unrest, violence and division in our nation and around the world. It will offer a quiet, reflective space for prayer, meditation, silence and community as people gather to hold grief and hope together.
The gathering is open to all — people of faith, people with questions, and those simply longing for a moment of calm and connection. The vigil will focus on peace, justice, compassion and care for one another, drawing on the teachings of Jesus that call us to feed the hungry, heal the sick and welcome the stranger.
“This vigil is not about partisan politics,” organizers note. “When systems of power act in ways that stand in contrast to love, dignity and care for our neighbors, the church is called to name that and to call the world toward another way. That calling is at the heart of the Gospel.”
The service will include simple prayers, moments of silence, readings, music and time for reflection. No prior church experience is needed.
In a time that often feels loud and fractured, the Prayer Vigil for Peace and Hope offers a different way — one of listening, prayer and standing together for peace.
All are welcome.
