On Sunday, Oct. 4, the Community United Methodist Church will join Christians worldwide in celebrating World Communion Sunday, a day when believers across every tradition, language and nation gather around the same loaf and the same cup.
This year’s message, “One Table,” draws from 1 Corinthians 10:16–17 and asks a question that feels urgent four weeks before a national election: What holds us together when everything around us is trying to pull us apart?
Pastor Ken Daniell will explore what it means to be one body across difference — across theology, across politics, across the divides that feel wider every day. The communion table, he argues, is not ours to guard. It belongs to God. And God keeps drawing the circle wider.
World Communion Sunday also reminds us that the table moves. It doesn’t wait for people to find their way to a building. At its best, the church goes out to the margins, to the edges, to the people who have wondered whether there is really a place for them.
There is. The chair is already pulled up.
All are welcome at both services. No credentials required.
Services are at 8:15 and 11 a.m.
